KOTTAYAM, JAN. 9. The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, today inaugurated an all-India handicrafts fair, organised by `Kairali' in connection with its 10 anniversary, at Manmanmappila hall here. At the inauguration, Mr. Chandy said a meeting of top officials and other department heads would be held in Thiruvananthapuram in the first week of March to discuss the problems faced by the handicrafts sector. The sector faces problems such as sales and purchase tax and competition from the private sector, Kairali managing director Rajan P. Abraham told mediapersons.
The handicrafts fair would continue till January 25. - PTI
