RBI men take title
BANGALORE,
JAN. 9.
Reserve Bank of India (Bangalore) clinched the men's team carrom title in the all-India inter-RBI sports meet held at Ahmedabad recently. While the RBI men won 2-1 against Nagpur, the women lost to Mumbai 2-1.
In the individual event there was some success for Bangalore as Kavita Somachi claimed the women's singles title beating Shobavathi of Patna. Kavita and V. Latha, however, went down in the doubles final to Sangeeta and Shubodha of Mumbai.
In the men's singles, G. Shiva lost to Abdul Shagir (Nagpur) in the final but avenged the defeat in the doubles final with H.K. Umesh. The pair beat Shagir and Rambhad of Nagpur.
