Spadea has it easy

AUCKLAND, JAN. 10. Fourth-seeded Vince Spadea of the United States took only 45 minutes on Monday to blank David Sanchez of Spain 6-0, 6-0 in the first round of the $426,000 Heineken Open tennis tournament.

Spadea, an Auckland regular since 1995, overwhelmed his Spanish opponent, allowing Sanchez only 17 points in 12 games.

Frazier stunned

China's Li Na upset defending champion and top-seeded Amy Frazier of the United States 7-5, 7-5 in a first round match at the Moorilla International women's tennis tournament.

In another match on Monday, Australian wildcard Casey Dell'Acqua upset Alina Jidkova of Russia.

Dell'Acqua broke Jidkova's serve three times in the first set before continuing her form throughout the second for a 7-5, 6-4 victory.
