JAIPUR, JAN. 10. Indefinite curfew clamped on Sunday in parts of Sriganganagar in northern Rajasthan following a clash between police and an agitated mob protesting against the murder of a photographer was lifted in the Sadar police station area today. However, another curfew-bound area in the town witnessed a fresh clash between two groups. Hundreds of people from two slum localities fought a pitched battle with sticks and hurled stones at each other near the Chajgaria Mohalla this morning despite the curfew in force and a large number of security personnel deployed on the spot. Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the violent crowd. While one group was demanding shifting of the colony inhabited by those belonging to Chajgaria caste - holding them responsible for the murder of the photographer, Ramlal Kumhar, on Saturday evening - the other group took exception to the allegation and resisted the attack. According to the police sources, there was no casualty in the clash. The curfew in the areas falling within the jurisdiction of Jawahar Nagar police station was continuing without any relaxation in view of the fresh conflict, but was lifted in the Sadar police station area as no untoward incident was reported there. Police arrested 24 persons in connection with today's incident of violence.
