CHANDIGARH, JAN.10. The Election Commission has directed the Haryana Government to immediately transfer the State Director General of Police, M.S.Malik, and to send a panel of names to it for deciding his successor. Mr. Malik was also transferred on the orders of the Election Commission in April last year as his wife was contesting on the Indian National Lok Dal ticket from the Sonepat Parliamentary constituency. The Commission has also directed the State Government to transfer immediately the Director of Public Relations, R.K.Khullar, and the Deputy Director of Public Relations, Om Parkash. Even though the State Government was yet to announce the names of the DGP and the DPR, sources pointed out that the Commission took the decisions on the basis of report of the Special Observers who probed into allegations regarding "blatant'' violation of the Model Code of Conduct by the INLD Government, including appointment of constables. The Commission is understood to have ordered the transfers of the DPR and his Deputy for reportedly issuing an advertisement containing tender notices.
