Bihar Samajwadi Party chief arrested
By Our Special Correspondent
PATNA,
JAN. 10
. The police today arrested the Samajwadi Party's Bihar unit chief, Daddan Pehalwan, in connection with a murder case.
Mr. Pehalwan, a legislator, had been absconding for some time. He was about to address a party meeting in Dumraon in Buxar district when the arrest was made. The party's general secretary, Amar Singh, was present at the meeting.
The Patna High Court had ruled recently that the police should not allow any absconder to file nomination papers.
The filing of nominations began today with the issuance of notifications for the elections.
