Geelani applies for passport

SRINAGAR, JAN. 10. The Chairman of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, has formally applied for passport to enable him to visit Pakistan, a spokesman of the separatist amalgam said today. Mr. Geelani, whose passport had been seized in 1981, has approached the passport office for the travel document. He has been invited for a two-day steering committee meeting between India and Pakistan beginning on January 12 in Islamabad, the spokesman said.
