Saplings planted

CUDDALORE,
JAN. 10.
The 16th day ceremony for those who died in the tsunami of December 26 was held today at Thevanampattinam. Organised by Swami Chidanand Saraswathi, the spiritual guru of Vivek Oberoi, survivors and family members of the deceased performed the rituals en masse in the village today.
The villagers also planted about 3,000 saplings along the shore, naming them after their relatives who died in the tsunami. It was an occasion to teach people about the importance of having a green barrier against natural calamities, actor Vivek Oberoi said.
