Martyr's body

to be brought

today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 10. The body of sapper C.S. Pramod, of 9 Engineers Regiment, who was killed in Jammu and Kashmir on January 8, will be brought here tomorrow from New Delhi, by Indian Airlines flight no. IC- 167. It will be received with full military honours at the air base of the Indian Air Force in Shanghumughom and later taken to Puthiyathura, Pramod's native village. He is the son of Soman C. and Chandrika.

Philatelic

exhibition

The Indian Postal Department is conducting a Mobile Philatelic Exhibition, as part of its 150th anniversary at St. Theresa's Convent Girls' HSS, Neyyattinkara, on January 11, at the Government HSS, Parassala, on January 12, at the Christian College, Kattakada, on January 13, and at the Government GHSS, Cotton Hill, on January 14. Students will be given an opportunity to display their collection. Philately-based classes, workshops and quiz competitions will also be organised along with the exhibition.

Tagore theatre

modification

A meeting of MPs, MLAs, leaders of political parties, representatives of residents' associations, non-governmental organisations and mediapersons will be held at the City Corporation office at 11 a.m. tomorrow. It will discuss issues relating to the modification of the Tagore Centenary Theatre at Vazhuthacaud and its expansion as a cultural centre.

Lok Sabha'

Uni-Y, Thiruvananthapuram, (University wing of YMCA), is organising a `Model Lok Sabha' to train college and Plus Two students in parliamentary skills. Ban on mobile

phones lauded

The Thiruvananthapuram district committee of Kerala Congress(M), has welcomed the initiative to ban the use of mobile phones in educational institutions. It has asked the authorities concerned to curb the staging of fashion parades and cinematic dances, bordering on obscenity, on campuses.

Dead

Dubbing artist Chottanikkara Baby (V.P. Baby), died of cardiac arrest at his residence here, early this morning. He was 44. Baby, an employee of Malayala Manorama in Thiruvananthapuram, had lent his voice for many films and serials in Malayalam. The last rites will be held at Chottanikkara at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

Low-floor buses

The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, will launch the low-floor buses being introduced by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in the citty on Tuesday.
