CII summit from today

KOLKATA, JAN. 11. Altogether 1,300 delegates including 200 from 24 overseas countries will be participating at the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) Summit beginning here tomorrow.

B. Muthuraman, CII eastern region Chairman, said here at a press conference that the number of delegates had reached a record level and he was hopeful of strong business ties being forged over the next three days. The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, is slated to inaugurate the show, which will also see the attendance of two other members of his Cabinet and the presence of a U.K. Minister.

Besides the West Bengal Chief Minister, the EU Trade Commissioner and a high-power delegation from Singapore as well as west Asia would be present.

N. Srinivasan, Director General, CII, said that this year's show would encompass four broad streams.
