WELLINGTON, JAN.11 Sri Lanka will play two Tests and a first-class warmup match in New Zealand in April, reviving a tour abandoned when tsunamis struck the Indian Ocean nation, New Zealand Cricket said on Tuesday. NZC chief executive Martin Snedden also confirmed a three-match limited-overs series in January between New Zealand and a World XI captained by Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne. The series will aid tsunami victims. Sri Lankan offspinner Muttiah Muralitharan will play for the World XI, joining Warne in a pairing of the world's two top wicket-takers, and will also play in the later Test series, Snedden said.
World XI itinerary: Jan. 22, vs. New Zealand, Christchurch; Jan. 24, vs. New Zealand, Wellington; Jan. 26, vs. New Zealand, Hamilton: World XI squads: Game one: Shane Warne (Aus, Capt.), Andy Flower (Zim), Ian Harvey (Aus), Graeme Hick (Eng), Sanath Jayasuriya (SL), Lance Klusener (SA), Nick Knight (Eng), Muttiah Muralitharan (SL), Kumar Sangakkara (SL), Heath Streak (Zim), Chaminda Vaas (SL), Jonty Rhodes (SA, player/coach).
