BANGALORE, JAN. 11. The Minister for Revenue, M.P. Prakash, has said that the Government has decided to increase annuity (tasdik) given to temples in the State from a minimum of Rs. 6,000 to a maximum of Rs. 20,000. He told presspersons here on Monday that the Government is convinced that annuity given to a majority of temples now is meagre. Therefore, it has decided to give a minimum increase of Rs. 500 for all temples towards meeting their day-to-day expenses. The annuity will vary from temple to temple depending upon factors such as size, staff strength and revenue they generate. The Government has to bear an additional expenditure of Rs. 12 crores on account of the decision, he said.
