ISLAMABAD, JAN. 11. Amidst reports of pitched battles between the police and the Baloch nationalists in the last few days, the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, has alleged that some elements in Balochistan were getting money and weapons "from across the border" and warned them to behave or be prepared for serious consequences. In an interview to the local television channel, Geo, telecast late tonight Gen. Musharraf quipped on the recent rocket attacks on the gas fields of Baluchistan that "this is not 70's and we will not climb behind them in the mountains. They will even not come to know what has hit them." Sharp comments made by Gen. Musharraf against the so-called Baloch nationalists, particularly at a juncture the Government is talking about national reconciliation, has surprised political observers here. Pakistan Parliament had constituted an all-party committee to look at the grievances of people of Balochistan and suggest ways to redress them. Report soon The Committee is expected to submit its report soon but it has already been robbed off its legitimacy with the decision of some of the Balochistan parties claiming to represent the Baloch "nationalists" walking out of it. In the latest interview Gen. Musharraf has alleged that the elements engaged in disruptive activities in Balochistan were getting money and weapons from "across the border" though he has not specified which country. Conceding that they were locals, Gen. Musharraf has argued that though they claim to be nationalists they were involved in anti-national activities.
