Haj arrangements reviewed

NEW DELHI JAN. 11. The State Transport and Power Minister, Haroon Yusuf, today visited the camps set up by the Delhi State Haj Committee near Haj Manzil Turkman Gate in the Walled City to review the arrangements made for Haj pilgrims.

Mr. Yusuf interacted with the pilgrims and their relatives and requested them to pray for those who lost their lives in the tsunami calamity. He praised Abdul Sami Salmani, the chairman of the Delhi State Haj Committee, and other Committee members for extending all kind of support to the pilgrims. Apart from furnishing the travelling documents, the Committee has provided 24-hour medical facility, free transportation, provision for essential commodities on cheaper rates and security to the pilgrims at the two camps.

Mr. Salmani said the Committee had made arrangements for 14,000 pilgrims coming from Delhi and different parts of North India.

Learning centre for poor kids

NEW DELHI JAN. 11. The former Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, L.D. Mishra, inaugurated a community-learning centre titled "Kaamyab" at the Dhaula Kuan branch of Springdales School on Monday.

Expressing happiness over the initiative taken by the school, Dr. Mishra said the underprivileged children deserve the opportunity being given to them. Colourful cultural items presented by the students of Springdales and the children of J.J. cluster marked the inaugural ceremony.

A joint venture between the Old Springdalian Association (OSA) and Springdales School, "Kaamyab" would offer courses like spoken English, music, dance, computers, art and craft.

School principal represents India

NEW DELHI JAN. 11. The principal of Amity International School, Noida, Mohina Dar, attended an international five-day seminar titled "Productivity And Quality Infusion In The School Curricula" -- for South-East Asian countries -- in Manila recently. Organised and hosted by the Asian Productivity Organisation, Ms. Dar was the only principal representing India. In Manila, she presented her paper titled "Conforming to Uniforms and Dress Regulations" that was based on a case study.

Mr and Miss University

NEW DELHI JAN. 11. Mr University Vi-Cheng and Miss University Robai Musilivi Khamasi called on the Delhi Mayor, A. R. Verma, in his chamber at Town Hall on Monday.

They told the Mayor that the main purpose of their visit was to create awareness among the public for world peace.

On this occasion, the Mayor explained to them the various activities being carried out by the MCD to promote communal harmony and brotherhood.
