CHITTOOR, JAN. 11. The Chairman of the State Legislative Committee on the Welfare of Schedule Tribes, Govinda Naik, has expressed displeasure over non-implementation of the rule of reservation in S.V. University, Padmavathi Mahila University and SVIMS. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that the Vice-Chancellors of the two universities and the Director SVIMS had given in writing that lapses in the implementation of reservation would be rectified within six months. Complementing the TTD for observing the rule, Mr. Naik warned of action against officials if they were found to have issued bogus certificates. About 6 per cent of the total budget (Rs. 800 crores would be spent for providing facilities in all fields in Girijanawadas in the State.
Mid-day meal
Steps would be taken to provide mid-day meal facility to eight lakh students besides children already being covered under the scheme.Schedule Tribes hostels in the district were in bad shape, he observed. A report would be submitted to the Government for upgrading facilities in the hostels and schools, Mr. Naik said. Other members of the committee -- Sunnam Rajaiah, Babu, Ramesh, Prakash Rao, Bala Raj, Ravi Babu and Lakshmana Murthy, the district Collector, S.S. Rawath, the Joint Collector, Rajendra Prasad, the MLA, Lalitha Kumari, were present in the conference.
