CUDDAPAH, JAN. 11. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, owes an explanation to farmers of Rayalaseema region for releasing water downstream from Srisailam reservoir for power generation, the Telugu Desam Party has stated. The purpose of G.O. 107 stipulating maintenance of 854 ft. level in Srisailam reservoir is lost by letting off 7,500 cusecs a day to Nagarjunasagar dam on the pretext of power generation, the district TDP official spokesman, Redyam Venkata Subba Reddy, said at a press conference here on Tuesday. Fall in Srisailam reservoir level would drive Rayalaseema farmers into a crisis, he feared. The TDP leader called for an agitation by all political parties against the Government's decision to let water downstream.
