Venkaiah Naidu's resignation sought

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, JAN. 11. The Akhila Karnataka Kannada Chaluvali Kendra Samiti will demonstrate in front of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office here on Thursday because it believes that M. Venkaiah Naidu, who has been elected to the Rajya Sabha from the State, is harming the interests of Kannadigas.

The samiti leader G. Narayan Kumar told reporters here today that Mr. Naidu had only the welfare of Telugu-speaking people in mind. "Why should a Telugu sammelan be held in Bangalore when it can be conducted in Hyderabad or Guntur," Mr. Kumar asked.

Mr. Naidu had attended the function when it was held here recently.

According to Mr. Kumar, Mr. Naidu, who is a former national President of the BJP, has done nothing for the Kannadigas who sent him to the Rajya Sabha. "So, he must resign as MP."

Mr. Kumar said people from other States settle in Karnataka but do not work for the good of their adopted land.

The samiti plans a programme towards the end of the month to address the problems of those living in the border areas of the State.
