COIMBATORE, JAN. 11. The Tamil Nadu Special Police (TNSP) from Chennai chalked out an attacking strategy and coasted to a comfortable 88-45 win over Tiruchi Range Police in the final of the Tamil Nadu Police inter range basketball tournament at the VOC Park Corporation Sports Complex courts here on Tuesday. Last year at Thanjavur, the winner, after putting up a splendid show in the preliminary stages, fell miserably at the final hurdle. This time they were up in a similar situation, but made sure they did not mess up the opportunity. From the start to the finish it was the Chennai policemen all the way. Vignesh, Bharath, Rajendran, Ramachandran, Senthil Kumar and Shankar sparkled in one way or the other for the Chennai team. The captain-coach combination of Babu and Rafeek did the trick. Earlier in the semifinal, Madurai Range Police lost to Tiruchi Range 64-72, while Tamil Nadu Special Police humbled Thanjavur Range 57-41. On the distaff side, Chennai Armed Police scored a 29-10 win over Training Range for the women's title.
