Put Tamil Nadu under Central rule: VHP

HYDERABAD,
JAN. 11.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has demanded the dismissal of the Jayalalithaa Government in Tamil Nadu and the imposition of President's Rule in the State since insults were being heaped upon the heads of the Kanchi Mutt. At a press conference here on Tuesday, VHP leader and State unit working president, B. Manikyachary, denounced the arrest of the Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, about eight weeks ago and yesterday's arrest of the junior Acharya, Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi.
At a separate press conference, the Telugu Desam Party condemned the arrest of the junior Kanchi Acharya and termed it vengeful and undemocratic.
