Two persons pledge property as surety for Kanchi Acharya

KANCHEEPURAM,
JAN.11.
Two persons Ramachandran of Mannargudi and Viswanathan of Pammal, near Chennai today pledged their property worth Rs.50,000 each at the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Chengalpattu, as sureties for the execution of bail order issued by the Supreme Court for the Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi.
Enquiries show that both of them signed documents confirming their pledges in this regard before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Rangaraj.
In another development, counsel for the Sankara Mutt surrendered the passport having a short validity period of one year taken in the name of the Kanchi Sankaracharya in 1998 at the court as per the conditions laid down by the Supreme Court in its bail order.
