By Our Correspondent

ADILABAD, JAN. 11. The district Collector, J. Sudha Rani, on Tuesday asked farmers to go for horticulture and other crops in view of drought.

She suggested plantation of mango, bamboo, kanuga, etc., for which the Government provided financial assistance.

Participating in a free medical and health and awareness camp for tribals at Tejapur of Utnoor mandal organised by the Police Department, the Collector said the Government would distribute land to the landless poor in tribal areas on January 26.

Besides, house site pattas, old-age pension, drought pension were some of the welfare measures undertaken by the Government, she added.

The Superintendent of Police, Kripa Nand Tripathi Ujela, attributed the free movement of the police in rural areas to the peace talks with naxalites.

The Integrated Tribal Development Agency Project Officer, V. Sheshadri, the Utnoor RDO, Ravindra Babu, the Adilabad DSP, K. Sarveswara Rao, the Utnoor CI, Ismail, and others attended.
