SANGAREDDY, JAN. 11. The Medak district irrigation advisory board that met here on Tuesday left the decision of releasing water from Nallavagu to different places of the district to the State Government. Farmers along the canal are vying for the only source of irrigation water in the district.
Bar on paddy
The meeting also decided to ask farmers not to cultivate paddy under the Nallavagu. Around 700 acres of land under this canal is said to be under paddy. The District Collector, Anil Kumar Singhal, asked irrigation officers to discourage paddy in the rabi season.
