MANGALORE, JAN. 11. The Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat approved a Rs. 141.34-crore draft plan for 2005-06 at its general meeting here today. It has been prepared on the basis of grants anticipated from the State for Centrally approved schemes as per the revised link document of 2004-05. The estimated grant is Rs. 95.39 crores with additional grants of Rs. 45.94 crores. The outlay for the zilla panchayat in 27 of the 35 sectors under the draft plan is Rs. 44.10 crores (State's share Rs. 28.93 crores and Centre's share Rs. 15.16 crores). The outlay for taluk panchayats is Rs. 24.65 crores. The State and Centre's share here is Rs. 12.41 crores and Rs. 12.24 crores, respectively. This outlay will, however, be utilised in 17 sectors only.
Gram panchayats
Gram panchayats will receive Rs. 26.63 crores with the State's share being Rs. 16.99 crores. The outlay will be spent in eight sectors. A sum of Rs. 13.49 crores has been allocated for primary and secondary education.
State's share
The State Government's share here is Rs. 13.44 crores. Grants for rural development has been put at Rs. 2.22 crores, maintenance of roads and bridges Rs. 1.66 crores, women and child welfare Rs. 1.48 crores, and health sector Rs. 1.64 crores. Taluk panchayats will receive Rs. 7.05 crores for primary and secondary education. The outlay for providing nutritious food is Rs. 1.96 crore. A sum of Rs. 6.02 crores will be spent on rural drinking water supply schemes. The amount spent in 27 sectors through panchayat raj institutions during 2003-04 was Rs. 16.6 crores.
