The maximum and minimum temperature at Safdarjung on Tuesday was 22.1 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum and minimum temperature was 20.1 degrees Celsius and 6.8 degrees Celsius respectively. Maximum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 94 per cent and 100 per cent respectively, while minimum humidity was 44 per cent and 38 per cent respectively.
One killed
in accident
According to the police, at about 4-30 this morning, Ram Bahadur, Rakesh and Mansingh were travelling in a Maruti car from the Metro Railway Station at Shastri Park in Seelampur area here. All three were employees at the Metro Station in Shastri Park. While Ram Bahadur was the supervisor at the Station, Rakesh and Mansingh were employed in the capacity of guards. As the car was moving along G.T. Road, a truck rammed into the vehicle, killing Ram Bahadur on the spot. The other two, Rakesh and Mansingh, sustained injuries and were immediately taken to G.T.B Hospital. The truck driver, however, is absconding. A case has been registered at Seelampur Police Station and a search is on for the truck driver.
Six held for stealing
According to the police, four of the accused -- Santosh, Suresh, Mohammad Siddiqui and Raja -- were arrested while they were speeding away in a Maruti car after stealing a briefcase at Gopinath Bazar on January 4. During interrogation, they revealed that they used to steal bags and other belongings from cars parked at market places. At their instance, the police also arrested the receivers of stolen property -- Sada Shivan and Ravindran. A laptop, two cameras, six briefcases, two digital diaries and other stolen articles were recovered from their possession. The police also recovered 219 blank and 33 filled degrees and certificates of various universities and colleges, 21 passports and 39 rubber stamps and seals, from the possession of Sada Shivan and Ravindran. During interrogation, they disclosed that they also used to forge these documents.
Alleged robbers arrested
The accused, Sanjay, Charan Singh, Malkiyat and Kalu, had committed a robbery in a house, in which they injured the occupants and fled with ornaments. This morning, a police team spotted them along with their accomplices near Najafgarh drain. While the four were overpowered, other accused managed to flee. A hunt has been launched for the other accused and some of the stolen articles recovered during the operation.
