HYDERABAD, JAN. 12. A majority of ITI students could not take the annual examination this year as they could not access the hall tickets issued through the web instead of the previous method where principals concerned forwarded them to students, according to A.S. Sitharama Sarma, State representative of the newly-formed All India Private ITIs Council. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said students in rural areas, where internet was not so popular, failed to get the hall tickets thus missing the examination. He blamed the Commissioner, Employment & Training, B.V. Sudhakar, for issue of hall-tickets only through web. "We have to understand the background of students coming into ITIs before adopting new technologies. At least we should have alternative methods," he said. "Even polytechnics and engineering colleges have not adopted the system."
Framing of questions
Mr. Sarma wanted the Government to ensure that the question papers were given in Telugu since students wrote the examination in Telugu. "The question prepared by a central agency is in English and Hindi and students miss out marks as framing of questions confuses them. What's wrong if questions are given in Telugu," he questioned. The posting of Telugu and Hindi pandits as invigilators did not help the students, he said. Mr. Sarma said the present Commissioner's alleged unilateral decisions were harming employees and students. He said the average pass percentage had fallen to 10 in the State and the Government should intervene.
