Veterinary varsity planned at Tirupati
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
JAN. 12.
The State Government will establish a veterinary university with headquarters at Tirupati named after Sri Venkateswara.
The Animal Husbandry Minister, G. Surya Rao, told reporters here on Wednesday that paper work was on to implement the project which was taken up in view of the acute shortage of veterinary doctors.
He said they had recently notified 450 veterinary doctor posts but only 138 candidates had responded indicating the gravity of the situation. All of them were given appointment orders straightaway. The situation had forced the Government not to open any more veterinary hospital though there was need for them. To meet the situation for the present, 26 mobile vet clinics were launched.
