Korea keen to promote ventures in animation

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, JAN. 12. Faced with rising production costs, Korea is embarking on a strategy to promote joint venture productions for the animation industry in other countries such as India, according to Kim Young Joo, Chief Executive Officer, Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Centre (GITCT). He was making a presentation at the Animation India 2005 organised by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) here on Wednesday.

Mr. Joo said the Korean Government identified animation industry as one of the six strategic industries for growth.

The cooperative production based model envisages Korea to take on the role of supervision, production and management, while India could take on production, post-production and human resource issues.
