BELLARY, JAN. 12. Individuals and associations in Bellary district are continuing to donate towards the tsunami relief fund. Veerbhadrappa-Sangappa Company, engaged in mining at Sandur, donated Rs. 10.25 lakhs, including Rs. 25,000 contributed by the employees of the company. K.S. Veerbhadrappa, mine owner and former MP, handed over the cheque to the Deputy Commissioner, S.N. Jayaram, here on Wednesday. K.S. Sangamnath, K.S. Vinayak, and K.S. Nagaraj were present. The fans of cine stars Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan, along with the owners of Natraj Theatre complex, donated Rs. 1.01 lakh to the relief fund. The fans of both the stars raised Rs. 75,000 on the day the film, "Balu," starring Mr. Kalyan was released in Bellary. The Natraj theatre owners donated Rs. 26,000. At a simple function organised at the theatre, Lakshmikant Reddy, Hanumanth Reddy, and several fans of the cine stars handed over the demand draft to Pankaj Kumar Thakur, Superintendent of Police. Students and teachers of Smt. Basamma Higher Primary and High School in Cowl Bazaar gave a demand draft for Rs. 4,500 to the Deputy Commissioner, which will be sent to the Chief Minister's tsunami relief fund. Members of the Veerashaiva Vidyavardhak Sangha's Employees Cooperative Society donated Rs. 10,001. The Bellary Handloom Weavers' Cooperative Production and Sales Society volunteered to donate 247 metres of cloth valued at Rs. 5,191 to be distributed among the tsunami victims. The president of the society, Brahmaiah, and the office-bearers handed over the cloth to Jayakumar, Secretary Red Cross, Bellary.
