`No charge for opening D-mat'

MUMBAI, JAN. 12. In its bid to encourage small and new investors, SEBI today announced that there will be no charge for opening a D-mat account and there will not be custodial charges for the same from January 31. "SEBI is also looking into reducing the transaction and maintenance cost of the D-mat account," SEBI Chairman, G. N. Bajpai, said.
