Two policemen held in murder case

KURNOOL, JAN. 12. The police arrested five persons, including two constables, in connection with the murder of the Telugu Desam Party leader from Cuddapah, Chavali Veeranjaneyulu, on the outskirts the city recently.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, the Superintendent of Police, V.R.K. Mohan Rao, said the prime accused, Kishore Reddy, who had rivalry with the TDP leader at Nandimandalam village in Pendlimarri mandal of Cuddapah district, had hatched the murder plan and sought the support of constables, Sai Sridhar Reddy, attached to Nallamada police station in Anantapur district, and Konda Venugopal Reddy, attached to Madanapalli police station in Chittoor district, and two others -- Srikant Reddy and Sheik Muneer Basha. The constables were related to Kishore Reddy.

The police seized from the accused two revolvers, six cartridges including four used ones, a sickle and the vehicle used by them. The SP said the accused were held at Mantralayam and were produced before the court today.
