`Naxal activity no hindrance' `Naxal activity no hindrance'

HYDERABAD, JAN.12. The Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, today asserted that the recent spurt in extremist activity would not send wrong signals to the investors as the Government was committed to providing a congenial atmosphere.

Talking to reporters, he said that there might be some law and order problems in parts of the State like in a forest area. But the State police were very competent to deal with the situation. Referring to extremists, he said "by and large, we look at them as prodigal sons, our own people, who have swerved in their path."

In spite of their attitude, the Government would ensure that law and order was maintained.

Asked about any fresh initiative to put the peace process back on the rails, he said "everything possible will be done."
