Scrapping of Press Note 18 unfortunate: CPI

By Our Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI, JAN. 12. The Communist Party of India MP, Gurudas Dasgupta, has described as ``unfortunate'' the scrapping of Press Note 18 as announced by the Prime Minister today.

``I categorically say that it is unfortunate,'' Mr. Dasgupta, who is also the All-India Trade Union Congress general secretary, told reporters here today. He, however, refused to comment on the issue any further.

Press Note 18 restricted the new ventures for foreign companies which already had collaborations here.
