New IB chief

NEW DELHI, JAN. 12. E.S. Lakshmi Narasimhan, a 1968-batch Andhra Pradesh cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, will be the next Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), according to official sources.

Mr. Narasimhan is now the IB's Special Director. He will succeed Ajit Doval who retires on January 31.

He will have a tenure of about 10 months.

He has had a long stint with the organisation, working in different capacities and handling several sensitive assignments, which included one in the immigration division.
