Group I aspirants want exam in July
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
JAN. 12.
Aspirants of Group I and Civil Services examination sought the postponement of Group I Mains to July 2005, as the proposed dates are likely to clash with the Civil Services preliminary examination scheduled on May 15, 2005.
In a memorandum submitted to the APPSC Chairman, P. Ramulu, the aspirants said nearly 30,000 from the State appear for the civil services exam and the proposed dates of Group I in May, would hamper their preparation for the UPSC exam. A majority of the aspirants have already qualified for the Group-I Mains, they said.
The candidates reminded that the pattern of both the exams were different and combination of optional subjects offered in both were also different. For example, Telugu Literature and Anthropology are not offered in UPSC. They said a majority of the Civil Services aspirants postponed their attempt to 2005 in view of the Group-I Mains. If they are not given adequate time for preparation, they would lose a chance to appear for the civil services exam.
