Cylinder explodes in garage, two suffer burns

BANGALORE, JAN. 12. Two persons suffered burns in an LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinder explosion in a garage in Ulsoor police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday.

The police said the incident occurred in the garage owned by Noor on Bazaar Street, off Clock Tower, in Ulsoor around 1 a.m. The building was damaged in the explosion. Noor (26) and his friend, Firoze (24), who suffered burns, have been admitted to the Victoria Hospital. Their condition is said to be critical.

Noor's friend had kept an LPG cylinder used for autorickshaws at the garage on Tuesday night. There was a leakage from the cylinder, and when Noor and Firoze came to the garage and switched on the lights, there was an explosion, the police said. The Ulsoor police have registered a case.

Murder case registered

The autopsy on the body of a woman aged around 35, which was found near Pradeep Circle in Kalasipalya police station limits on December 22, has revealed that she was strangled. The body has not been identified.

As there were no claimants for the body, the police buried it on December 30. The Kalasipalya police, who initially took up a case of unnatural death, have registered a case of murder.

Accident

A woman aged around 40 was killed when a motorcycle hit her on the Byatarayanapura Ring Road around 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The body is in the Victoria Hospital mortuary, the police said.

Autos recovered

The Basaveshwaranagar police have arrested four persons and recovered from them four autorickshaws worth Rs. 1.60 lakh in all. The names of three of those arrested were given as Kumar (19) of Doddaballapur taluk, Harish (19) of Shivanagar and Nagaraj (20) of Sira taluk in Tumkur district. The fourth accused is a 16-year-old boy from Basaveshwaranagar, the police said.
