Election Commission fiat to Haryana
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
JAN. 13.
The Election Commission today directed the Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana not to put teachers, staff, constables and other officials who had been recruited after December 1, 2004 on election duty.
In a fiat issued today, the Commission said the move was a sequel to the findings by an enquiry team that large scale recruitment had taken place in Haryana, which is going to the polls on February 3.
The Commission also ordered the immediate transfer of the Superintendents of Police of Panchkula and Ambala.
A two-member team from the Commission that investigated the alleged violations of the model code of conduct by the Om Prakash Chautala Government in Haryana had said that large scale recruitments had taken place in the police department in the State.
