PUDUKOTTAI, JAN. 13 . Over 1,200 members of women self-help groups have been imparted entrepreneurship development training in Pudukottai district so far, the District Collector, Jatindranath Swain said. Speaking at the Mahalir Thittam Coordination Committee meeting held here today, he said the training programmes were being conducted by the Mahalir Thittam and the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravida Housing Development Corporation. He said the Mahalir Thittam had recognised 15 NGOs for the setting up of SHGs. At present, over 5,642 SHGs had been attached to these NGOs - 5,211 in the panchayat limits, 246 in the town panchayat limits and 185 in the municipal limits. Of the total 93,266 members in the SHGs, 36,686 belonged to the Adi Dravida community. Over 5,100 SHGs had been sanctioned subsidy linked credit facility and a sum of Rs. 25.29 crores had been released. Under the Swarmajayanthi Grama Swarozgar Jojana, revolving fund of Rs. 4.71 crores was sanctioned to 1,643 women SHGs. The Deputy General Manager, NABARD, Kesavamurthy, Lead District Manager, Muthiah, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Ramachandran, participated in the meeting.
