BESCOM yet to pay compensation
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE,
JAN. 15.
A year after Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) was given 90 days to pay Rs. 32, 935 for damage caused by a power surge, it is yet to pay the amount. The power surge damaged five computers and other equipment at the Environment Support Group (ESG) office here in June 2003.
In January 2004 the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC), which took up the power surge case suo motu, directed the company to pay the money. At the time, BESCOM had said that a power surge was not within its control. On taking up the case again, KERC received a petition from the company stating its side. Now the commission has given BESCOM a couple of days to reply.
