Local student chosen for `Balshree' award

PONDICHERRY, JAN. 15. The Delhi-based National Council of Children has selected V.S. Vaithianathan, a standard X student of the St Patrick Matriculation Higher Secondary School, for `Balshree' award in recognition of his creative talents.

A release from the Director of School Education, G. Theva Needhi Dhas, said here on Friday that Vaithianathan would receive the award next month from the President in New Delhi.

He also bagged last year a state-level award instituted by the Pondicherry Jawahar Bal Bhawan for the best and talented student.
