PONDICHERRY, JAN. 15. The Pondicherry Hindu Munnani chief, N. Pazhanivel, has asked the Lt. Governor and the Chief Minister to reconsider their plan to acquire temple land for housing scheme for tsunami-hit villagers. In a release he said philanthropists donated land to enable temple authorities utilise the proceeds from the land for pujas. Mr. Pazhanivel said some of the ancient temples were in a dilapidated condition and their land had either been encroached upon or utilised for certain other purposes causing hardship to the maintenance of temples and performance of pujas.
