GUNTUR, JAN. 15. All the police stations in the Palnadu region of Guntur district have been put on high alert and police personnel asked to take precautionary measures to check any untoward incident in view of today's violent incidents in Prakasam and Mahabubnagar districts. Public representatives at all levels, including Ministers, have been asked not to venture into naxalites' violence-prone areas and interior places so that providing them with security becomes easier. Some MPTCs, ZPTCs, and sarpanches of the affected areas have been fleeing their usual place of residence to be out of their reach. Now they have also been asked not to venture into interior villages without security. The police are prepared to provide security to those who desire such a special cover. The Guntur Superintendent of Police, Jitender, said that normal security was being provided at police stations and if some persons had additional threat perception, they would be given additional security as per the norms. He, however, said that there was no alarming situation and people need not alter their programmes. Some of the programmes involving Ministers have, however, either been altered or cancelled in the district.
