KARIMNAGAR, JAN. 15. Condemning the naxalites' brutal act of killing a Congress sarpanch in Rudrangi village of Chandurthi mandal in the wee hours of Saturday, the Telugu Desam Party State vice-president and Sircilla MLA, Ch. Rajeshwara Rao, asked the Government to hold peace talks with naxalites unconditionally immediately to control extremists' violence. Talking to newsmen here, Mr. Rajeshwara Rao suggested to the Government to instruct the police to exercise restraint. "We cannot control extremism through police action and in turn it will escalate further and we cannot protect the lives of innocents and politicians in the rural areas,'' he pointed out. Finding fault with naxalites for killing the sarpanch, he said the police should not disturb the peace process on the pretext of naxalites resorting to forcible extortions.
