Kurnool
By Our Staff Reporter
KURNOOL, JAN. 15. A red alert has been sounded in Kurnool district following the death of six extremists in two different encounters on Saturday. Three of them were killed in Chintala in Prakasam district close to Kurnool border near China Arutala, where top CPI(Maoist) leaders emerged for participating in talks with the Government. Elected representatives and those on the hit list were alerted about possible attacks in the wake of a bandh call by the Maoists for January 17. Meanwhile the bodies of the extremists, including two men and one woman were shifted to Dornala. A red alert was also sounded in Cuddapah district, particularly in naxalite-affected Rayachoti and Lakkireddipalle constituencies.
