LJP leader joins JD(U)

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, JAN. 15. Almost on the eve of the first phase of the Assembly elections in Bihar, Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party today received a setback with its general secretary, Anand Mohan Singh, and his wife, Lovely Singh, along with several supporters, joining the Janata Dal (United) here today to provide an alternative to Lalu Prasad in the State.

Mr. Mohan joined the party in the presence of the JD(U) leaders, George Fernandes, Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar.

"We had hoped that Mr. Paswan would lead the fight against 15 years of one-family's misrule in Bihar, but he has shown himself to be acting at the behest of the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi. The 15 years of misrule in Bihar have turned into 15 decades of misrule with no development. Bihar has gone off-track and people are now looking for an alternative," Mr. Mohan said at a press conference here after he was welcomed into the party by the JD(U) president, George Fernandes.
