Plea to refer proposed amendments to MCI Act to JPC

HYDERABAD,
JAN. 15.
The Communist Party of India (CPI) has wanted the proposed amendments to the Medical Council of India (MCI) Act referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee before presenting them in Parliament.
The CPI MP, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, told presspersons that he had written to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, to this effect, to ensure whether the amendments proposed were in tune with the letter and spirit of the Common Minimum Programme of the United Progressive Alliance.
