CUDDALORE, JAN.16. The Tanfac Janseva Trust, under the aegis of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development Activities, has undertaken relief and rehabilitation work at Thalanguda, one of the tsunami-hit coastal villages here. A statement released from Tanfac today stated that the District Collector, Gagandeep Singh Bedi, had allotted the village to the company to provide relief to about 500 families there. Accordingly, the trustee and executive president of Tanfac, M.H. Upadhyaya, arranged for distribution of utensils, kerosene stoves, blankets and mats as a temporary relief to the people, in the presence of the Collector on January 14. The statement said to restart their livelihood, the Trust had repaired seven boats, overhauled seven engines and presented seven new nets at a cost of Rs 1 lakh. The Trust had drawn up a comprehensive plan for constructing permanent houses.
