Sanjay bags title

BANGALORE, JAN 16. N. Sanjay of Income Tax, Hubli bagged the title in the first leg of the Checkmate Challenge Grand Prix Series organised by the Karnataka Chess Players' Forum at the State Youth Centre.

Sanjay drew his final round match with State Rapid Champion J. Manjunath to tally seven points and 34.5 Progressive Score points after the eighth and final round. Myosre Tej Kumar finished runner-up and city mate Vijendra was third spot.

The final placings: 1. N Sanjay (7); 2.Tej Kumar (7);3. Vijendra (6); 4. M. Raju (6); 5. Asim Pereria (6); 6. S. Raghavendra (5.5); 7. Anil Sastry (5.5); 8. K.V. Sripad (5.5); 9. J. Manjunath (5.5) amd 10. T. Chandrashekar (5.5).

Age category Placing: Best Under -14 : A Balkishen; Best Under -12: Pavitra Jagtap; Best Udner-10: HS Karthik; Best Under-8: M Priadarshi;
