Naxals torch RTC bus

KURNOOL, JAN. 16. Six armed extremists, including a woman, believed to be members of the CPI (Maoists), set ablaze an RTC bus near Bairluti, 23 km from Atmakur, in the Nallamala forest in Kurnool district on Sunday.

According to reports, armed extremists in olive green uniform stopped the bus (AP 11Z 774) proceeding to Rajahmundry from Raichur and set it afire after asking passengers to alight. The extremists raised slogans in protest against the killing of their cadre by the police. As the bus was stranded in the middle of the road, the traffic was help up. Passengers of 20 buses were stranded.
