HYDERABAD, JAN. 16. Telugu Desam Party leaders have asked their district committees and the party's rank and file, especially in Telangana, to be extra cautious in view of the escalated violence between naxalites and the police. Leaders from Khammam and Warangal said this was not an unusual situation for them. "In the past, we have seen our partymen getting caught in the crossfire. So it is in our own interest to be careful and take basic precautions," they said. A senior police officer confirmed that there was a flight of BJP and TDP leaders from the Telangana districts and other parts of the State to the capital. "But what is more noticeable is the flight of leaders of the Congress and the TRS," he said. Meanwhile, fear has gripped Congress and TRS leaders in Nizamabad district. The SP, N. Madhusudan Reddy, when contacted, said he had asked all political leaders to cut down their movements in public. "If they have to go out, they must contact the police and take protection," he said.
