SRINAGAR, JAN. 16. Security forces today gunned down the two militants of the Al-Mansoorian outfit who had stormed the Passport Office here. It ended the nearly 26-hour gun battle in which two Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed and five injured. One militant, who sneaked out in the evening and took shelter in a nearby building, tried to escape. The body of the other militant was retrieved from the Passport Office this morning. The battle began yesterday when the heavily-armed militants forced their way into the Passport Office next to the Bakshi Stadium, the main venue of Republic Day function. The bodies of two CRPF personnel were recovered this morning. A spokesman of the Al-Mansoorian identified the two militants as Nayeem Ahmad of Handwara and Mohammad Sabir of Srinagar. PTI, UNI
